NOTE: This is a work in progress that is about 60% "done". Expect more changes.

If you are viewing this in LWPS post 3150, please use the exact copy in this Google Template to edit to your needs, if you wish.

Google Calendar (GC) http://www.google.com/calendar/ is a powerful tool that you can use to send yourself email notifications of LifeWork planning activities you want to perform in the (near) future.

You may make a note in your paper calendar (Daytimer, etc.), or your digital calendar (Outlook), but you may forget to look at it. But you seldom miss an email. Create a GC event that will send you an email to remind you to do some LifeWork planning activity.

Over time, I will be adding a "#" at the beginning of the sentence of a LifeWork planning activity. The "#" will be a hyperlink - or what some people call a "permalink". When you click on it a URL/link will appear in your browser's address box. You can COPY that URL/link and PASTE it into a GC event. When you get a GC email with that link in it, you can click on it and return to the exact line where that "#" appeared so you can pick up where you left off.

# To show you an example of the use of the "#" I need to take you to a copy of this document in post #3150 on the LifeWork Planning Services (LWPS) platform. (The example does not work in the Google Template version.) Click on this link - http://lifeworkps.com/stages/weblog/3150.html. Look above at your browser's address box and notice that the URL for this post is http://lifeworkps.com/stages/weblog/3150.html. Click on the "#" at the beginning of this paragraph and note the addition of "#test" at the end of that URL. It will look like this http://lifeworkps.com/stages/weblog/3150.html#test. COPY the URL and go to another window in your browser, PASTE it in and click on it and notice that you will be seeing this paragraph at the top of the web page.

General procedure

Click "Create event".

Go back to the last LWP activity you were working on and COPY the link there by clicking on the "#" (?).

COPY/PASTE the following text (or variant) in front of that link: "I'm reminding you to click on this link to resume the last LWP activity you were working on - ".

2. Remind me monthly to review why I chose to do LifeWork planning on LWPS

After you have done the initial work, or even before you complete it, you will most likely forget about LifeWork planning (LWP) since it is not something you do every day, every week or every month. Therefore, you should create this Google Calendar (GC) event so you get an email to remind yourself to resume your LWP activities or review what you have done.

When you receive that email, you will most likely wonder if you really need to work on this right now. Therefore, it is important that you get back in touch with the reason you started LWP. If you haven't already done so, go to this LWP activity and create your version of the Google Template (GT) entitled "LifeWork planning is important to me because ... ". COPY the link to your version of the GT.

Open a separate browser window and click here to go to GC. Click "Create event". PASTE the link to your version of the GT into "Description". COPY/PASTE the following text (or variant) in front of that link: "I'm reminding you to review the following document you created on mm/dd/yy where you described why you made the decision to devote at least [enter the amount of time you decide to spend per day, week, month, year] to do LW planning (LWP) and to use LWPS to do that LWP. Please click on this link to resume the last LWP activity you were working on - [Go back to the last LWP activity you were working on and COPY the link there by clicking on the "#" (?). PASTE the link here.]."

In "Reminders" select "Email".
