How many people ask themselves this question?
I am told that a few years ago the president of the American Psychological Association addressed his peers: "I want you to take out a piece paper and I want you to complete this sentence: 'I am __________.' He waited for a few minutes. Then he asked, "How many of you wrote 'psychologist'?" Overwhelmingly, the hands went up. He followed up, "Now, I want you to complete the sentence without any reference to your occupation." The room grew silent. The heads of the audience hung low. Very few hands were writing. Then he said, "Why is it so hard for us to think of who we are apart from what we do everyday?"
I notice that there are lots of blog which make Friday their question day. Today I am going to ask you to answer this simple question:
Without any reference to your occupation, how would you complete this sentence:
"I am _________________."(Extracted 8/1/08 from http://radicaldiscipleship.blogstream.com/v1/pid/329999.html#TCL)
