LifeWork planning process :: Blog :: Step 2: "Knowing Yourself" by prioritizing lists of your values, interests and skills

June 09, 2007

This is Step 2 of the six (6) step LifeWork planning process.

In my and many other's opinion, this is the MOST important step.

If you can build a clear picture of who you are (your values, interests, skills, etc.), then you have a solid foundation to complete the other four (4) steps. So, clearly, this is where you should be spending most of your time and energy.

There are 7 stages of career development that are either age-based or dependent on your level of understanding and skills with career/lifework planning. If you are an adult, then ignore the references to grades and children's ages. Please click here to go to Stage 3 of the career development process.

Next step:
  1. Go on to Step 3 Exploring: Identify alternatives, or
  2. return to Step 1 Awareness/Engaging: Become aware and engage yourself in the need to make a choice, or
  3. return to the LifeWork planning process post.
