Please perform the following tasks to setup your LWPS personal blog and begin your LifeWork planning ...

  1. Join this community: In the upper right sidebar of this "New member!" community, you will find the "Profile Owner" box. At the bottom of that box is the link that says "Click here to join this community". Please click on it to join this community. (REMEMBER, click your browser's Return button to come back here to finish the remaining steps!)

  2. Add me as your "friend": Click on this link to my blog, then click on the link at the bottom of my "Profile Owner" box that says "Click here to make this person a friend." (REMEMBER, click your browser's Return button to come back here to finish the remaining steps!)

  3. Create a GAR: We encourage you to save your posts with an Access Restriction (AR) of "Public" when you have something to share (like a resource or a personal story) that could be of value to others who are doing their LifeWork planning. Collaboration and helping each other is one of the primary purposes of LWPS. You will save many of your posts with a AR of "Private" so only you can see them. Sometime you may want one or a few other LWPS members (like a career counselor) see a post. You can do this by creating a special kind of AR called a Group Access Restriction (GAR). Before you create a GAR for someone, you need to make them a "Friend". Create a GAR for me and call it something like "Pete only".

  4. Set your email option: Click on your "Account Settings" in upper right corner and set your "Email options" to "Yes" so you receive email when comments are added to posts that you "marked as interesting". In the current 0.4 release, you do not get email about comments that someone made to your comments. The new release 0.7 fixes that.

  5. Create a "My LWP" post: Go to this post and COPY all of the text in red. You will PASTE it in a moment. In the upper left corner, you will find the link "Your Blog". Click on it anytime you want to go to your personal/professional blog. Please click on it now. Under your name, you will see the link "Post an entry". Click on it. Create a post with a title of "My LWP" and PASTE what you just copied in to the post body. Save it with an AR of "Public". Click on this post to learn how to find, copy and create a hyperlink. Now look at your browser's address box and COPY the link to the post you just created.
You'll PASTE it in the next step.

  6. Link to your "My LWP" post: To the far right of the line where you found "Your Blog" find the link "Your Profile". Click on it (or your iconic image in your "Profile Owner" box) anytime you want to go to your personal/professional profile. Please click on it. Click on "Edit your profile", then scroll down a few lines to find the "Brief Description" section. Type in a hyperlink to your "My LWP" post. Set the AR to "Public". Go to the bottom of "Your Profile" and SAVE your changes. Notice the appearance of the hyperlink in your "Profile Owner" box to your "My LWP" post.

  7. Mailbox: Create a public "Mailbox" post so I and others can add comments to communicate with you. See mine as an example. Add a link to it in your "Brief Description" in "Your Profile"..

  8. Posts: Create the following posts (in your personal blog) using either the public or private AR or the "Pete only" GAR you set up. Then add a link in your "My LWP" for each. Don't try to finish them. Just add a few items in the first three posts and a paragraph or two in your brief autobiography. Also, copy the post title and paste it into the Keywords section under the body. Also, add your initials to the Keywords section of each post you make.
    1. My values
    2. My interests
    3. My skills
    4. My brief autobiography
    5. The value of LWPS to me
    6. (Any other posts that will help you do you LifeWork planning)

  9. No one will be able to read your private posts. Anyone can read your public posts. Only you and I can read posts you save with a GAR of "Pete only".

  10. If you have any questions, please add a comment to this post. I will get an email and respond as soon as I can.

  11. I hope you enjoy your LWPS blog and this platform and use it well to find your soul satisfying work.
