DRAFT - Please comment below.

Sometimes, we can get so caught up in writing a blog post that we may start saying something personal (or negative) about a member of our family, a friend, a colleague, our boss, etc . And if a search engine (like Google) archives it, we could get ourselves or the person or company we are talking about in trouble. To minimize or prevent that from happening, the LWPS team offers the following guidelines.

While you are DRAFTING you posts or sections of your profile, always save them with an Access Restriction (AR) of "Private". Then when you have completed each section of your profile or the post (or it is as complete as it is going to be for the moment), deliberate on what AR you will use.

The following links describe the purpose, value and use of the three (3) basic LWPS methods available to you to restrict access to the personal information you place in your profile sections or your posts.
  1. Access Restriction (AR) - "Private"; "Logged in user"
  2. Group Access Restriction (GAR)
  3. Private or moderated communities

We recommend that you create a post in your personal blog where you keep links to posts containing key information about yourself and add a link there to this post for future reference by COPYing then PASTEing the following red line into that post:

This topic is so important that we have placed a link to this post #1265 in the above three (3) and the following key LWPS posts. Click on the appropriate link to return to the location in the post that you came from. Then go to the top of that post to read it.

We encourage you to review all of these posts.

You most likely got to this post because I added a comment to one of your posts to look at one (or more) of the following "best practices for LWPS". These recommendations have worked for me and others, and I think you will find them helpful. If you have a comment about any of them, please add it in the post that is referred to in that respective "(More)" link. Thank you.

Click on a "(More)" link to go to the respective Lesson or reason that explains why I consider this to be my best practice for LWPS posts.

  1. Add your initials to all of your posts. (More) Also see tag "initials".
  2. Separate tags with commas. (More) Also see tags "comma, tags, tagging".
  3. Add the tag "mailbox" to the post that contains your mailbox. If you just have a tag "{my name} mailbox", you will not find it when you or someone else does a search for "mailbox". (More) Also see tag "mailbox".
  4. ...

Click on the "LWPS Help" tab in the upper right to view all of the Lessons and FAQs.

The "Profile Owner" box to the right is a VERY important space in your personal blog as well as everyone else's personal blog and all the community blogs.

Important information and links are saved there to make it easy for readers to use one mouse click to navigate to key aggregating posts. One or two more mouse clicks within those aggregating posts can easily take a reader to EVERY post on the LWPS platform.

Click here to learn more about creating a link.

Click here to learn how to add or change text and links in your "Profile Owner" box.

called "Brief Description" and is the second segment in Your Profile.
COPY anyone of the texts below in red, click on "Your Profile" (upper left corner), click "Edit Your Profile", PASTE the copied text into the "Brief Description", Edit it if you wish, change the Access Restriction to "Public", then go to the bottom of "Your Profile" and hit SAVE.

NOTE: The "Brief Description" box has one weird problem. You can not have two or more consecutive "blanks". If you do, everything to the right of those two or more blanks will NOT appear in your "gold" box. The way around this is to insert <br> html code.

(Of course, edit the post numbers (like 696 or 309 below) to point to the posts that you created.)

  • <a href="http://lifeworkps.com/hubbard/weblog/309.html">Table of Contents</a>
