- I got the URL, went to the site, got registered, but couldn’t figure out how to view the boards. I’m sure I’ll have a few navigation questions for you.
- I’ve already joined and identified you as a friend, but your blog site comes up blank.
- I’m trying to figure out how to get my picture onto my page. How do you do that?
- What’s the deal with “tags”? Are these regular HTML tags, or what? I read something about them on one of the pages I browsed, but only got confused.

LWPS:
What is the value of LWPS?
The value of LWPS is 1) having one place to collect ever significant element and activity about your lifework, 2) finding each post quickly and easily so you can maintain it and reflect upon it, and 3) knowing that you have a virtual community of people ready to help you with any issues that may arise while you are doing your lifework planning.

What is the purpose of LWPS?
The purpose of LifeWork Planning Services (LWPS ) is to provide a virtual learning space where members can interact with others to collect, discuss, reflect upon and manage the significant elements and activities of their lives and work so they can create short and long term plans to achieve soul-satisfying harmony and happiness. What is the future of LWPS?
LWPS as of March 2006 is about 10% complete and serving 15 members. It should be 40% complete by March 2007 serving 150 members and 60% complete by March 2008 and serving 1000 members. Our goal is to serve 10,000 by 2010.
Ultimately (around 2010), the vision for LWPS is to provide an answer to the question “On a planet with over six (6) billion people, how do I quickly and easily find at least six (6) people who share my vision, passion, and/or interests (VPIs ) and who want to collaborate with me to transform them into joyful work that satisfies our souls?”
The only way this will happen is if everyone has a standardized machine readible profile that contains their VPIs and can be searched and matched by Google or a Google-like process. Standardization and interoperability are critical requirements. The Elgg development team is a champion of both. (Comment)

My personal/professional LWPS blog:
I already have a blog now. Why should I have a LWPS blog too?
There is no reason why you can't have two or more blogs. The LWPS platform is unique and has a special purpose. It is focused on providing a safe and secure virtual space for you to do lifework planning by yourself, with the aid of a professional and/or help and support from others around you like your family, peers, friends, etc.. I don't think you will be able to do that easily with your current blogging platform. If you can, please let us know.

How do I create my ePortfolio?
There are many kinds of ePortfolios. (Need a link here to describe each) As ePortfolio standards emerge, LWPS will offer services to help you create yours. Meantime, you can begin by collecting your ePortfolio artifacts either in your personal/professional posts, or in your LWPS file archive.
Here are examples of Elgg posts that contain some artifiacts.
- video inserts: a, b, c
- audio inserts: a, b, c
- picture inserts: a, b, c
- graphic inserts: a, b, c
- an Elgg post on a cell phone
- My ... posts (the basis of your LWP) (Click here to search for all of my posts with the tag of "My")

Security:
How do you handle security for my blog posts?
Encryption is being considered. I believe LWPS/Elgg is so secure that I maintain my list of passwords in this private post #303.
(Top, bottom, suggestion)
How do you handle privacy for my blog posts?
Post #303 above has an Access Restriction (AR) of "Private". Only I can see it. This adjacent post #304 has an AR of "Public". And this adjacent post #305 is only visible to to the one person I designated for that AR.

Create a (private or public) post in your personal/professional blog.
- First, look at the "orange box" (OB) in the upper right corner of the webpage. Above the box you will see either "You" or "Profile Owner". Inside the top of the OB you will see either your name or the name of a community. If you do not see "You" or your name, then click on the "Your Blog" button in the upper left corner between "Your Profile" and "Your Files". You are now in your personal/professional LWPS blog.
- In the upper left corner, under your name, click on "Post a new entry". You will see a webpage that has six sections.
- Post title
- Post body
- Keywords
- Access Restrictions
- Embed a file
- Save Post
- I recommend that your first post be an introduction of yourself and a Table of Contents for a listing of future posts you will make - so you can find your posts easily. Type "My Introduction and Table of Contents" in the Post title. Copy that title and paste it into the "Post body" and in the "keywords" box to make it a tag. Don't type anything else at this time and don't save it yet.
- Edit the keyword/tag "My Introduction and Table of Contents" and change the 's' on "Contents" to an 'x' so it reads "My Introduction and Table of Contentx". Also, add a coma next to the 'x', then add the tag "My" so it looks like this "My Introduction and Table of Contentx, My". I'll explain in step 7 below.
- Click on the pull down arrow in the "Access Restriction" box and select "Private". This Access Restriction (AR) means that only YOU can view this post. No one else. This is very useful for making private TODO lists, drafts of notes, saving personal information, etc..
- Now click "Save Post" to save it.
- Notice below your post and above the "Edit" and "Delete" buttons the line
"Keywords: Introduction and Table of Contentx, My". Notice that the "My" tag is a hyperlink. (Click on it when we are finished here.) Notice that the tag "Introduction and Table of Contentx" is not a hyperlink - because it is spelled wrong. Click on "Edit", change the 'x' to 's' so the tag is spelled correctly, save it, then notice that the tag is now a hyperlink. Click on the hyperlinked tag and notice where else the tag is used. Now click your browsers Back button, then click on the "My" tag and consider the possibilities.
- Remember, this post is "Private" and only you can see it. You may want to create a "Public" post that other readers can see.
- When you have more time, come back and edit your post and add an introduction of yourself.
(Top, top of this Q&A section, bottom, suggestion)
Find a LWPS user and make him/her your friend and read public posts in their blog.
- If you know the user's name, type it in or their first or heir last name into the "Seach" box in the right sidebar. If there is a match, you will see it listed on the left side. If there is more than one hit, click the most appropriate user name. Go to step 3.
- If step 2 yielded no results, try the following:
- Search for someone else you know who might have made the person you are searching for their friend.
- Search for a tag/keyword they may have used in one or more of their posts, such are "Introduction".
- When you find the person, look on the right sidebar at tte bottom of "Orange Box" and click on "Make this person your friend". The person's name will be added to the list under your "Friends" .
- Now look under the "Orange Box" and click on "Personal Blog" to view their public posts. If they have created a Group Access Restriction listing your username, you will see those posts as well and the post title will begin with "[Restricted]".
(Top, bottom, suggestion)
Find a LWPS community of interest and join it.
- If you know the community's name, type it into the "Seach" box in the right sidebar. If there is a match, you will see it listed on the left side. If there is more than one hit, click the most appropriate community name. Go to step 3.
- If step 2 yielded no results, try the following:
- Search for someone else you know who might have joined this community, and on the right sidebar look under "Owned Communities" or "Community Memerbship" to see if the community is there.
- Search for a tag/keyword they may have used in one or more of the posts in that community, such are "Introduction".
- When you find the community, look on the right sidebar at the bottom of "Orange Box" and click on "Join this community.". The community name will be added to the list under your "Community Membership" .
- Now look under the "Orange Box" and click on "Community Blog" to view its community posts. If a community member created a Group Access Restriction listing your username, you will see those posts as well and the post title will begin with "[Restricted]".
