New member! :: Blog :: Additional guidelines for protecting LWPS users private information

November 16, 2007

All LWPS members should be aware of LWPS functions that help them protect their private information.

You should also be aware of the following excerpts that focus on portions of guidelines published by other organizations and companies to protect clients private information.

  1. NBCC (National Board for Certified Counselors)
    • 10. Encryption is not currently available due to cost, but LWPS is considering it.
    • 11. At the moment, LWPS indefinitely preserves session data.
    • 12. LWPS will never release your information to any other sources.
  2. The Riley Guide: Privacy and other Online Issues, particularly Susan Joyce's Job-Hunt.org article on "Protecting your privacy"
  3. NCDA (National Career Development Association) NCDA Guidelines for the Use of the Internet for Provision of Career Information and Planning Services
  4. (Other sites to be added later)

If you see an LWPS member adding content to their posts or profiles that you think could hurt them, please COPY and PASTE the following (red) line and add it to a comment in their post or send them a message. If you are concerned about their profile, identify the appropriate section(s).

I am concerned that you are showing private information that you should protect. Please read this post about protecting your personal information.

  2. This post is about privacy issues.

Your "Web Etiquette" link is about "... ten tips for establishing yourself as a well-mannered online networker".

Although that is an important topic, I don't see the connection to this post.
