(RSS feeds and aggregation works fine for "public" posts in a person's blog, but at the moment, as noted in this post, Elgg does not offer users the ability to aggregate RSS feeds for tags associated with "Community" posts (like CCC) that have been saved with a "Group" access restriction? When this function is added, the instructions below will apply.) When you want to know when someone makes a post, set up an RSS feed (WikiPedia) for that person or each of their tag(s) by doing the following. RSS feed for a person

  1. Go to the blog of the person whose posts you want to track.

  2. Place your curosr on the RSS feed link entitled "RSS" under the person's picture in the orange box. Follow the instructions in this post to COPY that link-source to your clipboard.

  3. Click on "Your Resources", then "Manage your subscriptions"

  4. PASTE the link in your clipboard into the address box and click the "Subscibe" button.

  5. Each time you view your blog, click on "Your Resources" to see if the pserson you have set up this RSS feed for has posted anything.

RSS feed for a tag

  1. Search for the tag you want to aggregate.

  2. When you find the tag, place your cursor on the link entitled "RSS feed for this tag" under the heading "Syndication". Follow the instructions this post to COPY that link-source to your clipboard.

  3. Follow steps 3-5 above.

Instead of, or in addition to Elgg, you can use other aggregators like Bloglines or Yahoo. There are many. See my Bloglines account. New comments

  • On your blog (click your icon), under "Recent activity" (right sidebar), click on "View your activity". You will only see comments to your posts.

I’ve heard or seen references to Elgg. What is Elgg?

LWPS is powered by Elgg. Elgg is an Open Source platform which means the public can copy the code and customize it.

Currently, the only major change we have made was to replace the name Elgg with LifeWork Planning Services (LWPS). (Here is a revserse chronology of those changes.)
