LWPS has an RSS reader/aggregator under "Your Resources".
There are two types of Internet users, those that use RSS and those that don't. This video is for the people who could save time using RSS, but don't know where to start.

Embedding YouTube videos into your LWPS posts

It is VERY easy to embed YouTube videos into your posts.
  1. Go to http://www.YouTube.com
  2. Search for a video of interest, such as "ePortfolios" [1]
  3. COPY the html code in the box to the right of the video labeled "Embed".
  4. Create your LWPS post and PASTE in the YouTube html code. [1]
  5. Please add a tag string of "YouTube, videos" to any posts you create that contain a YouTube video.

[1] See this post which embeds a YouTube video on ePortfolios.

[1] Hi there,

We have no plans to build wiki functionality for Elgg - that said, others are welcome to build a wiki plugin. One such plugin does exist:

http://elgg.net/garrettn/weblog/127672.html

There is also MediaWiki/Elgg integration available:

Cheers,

Dave.

Hi everyone

I am very new to ELGG but excited by the possibilities.
I would second Ingo's second question: a wiki tab in ELGG would really make it for me.
I am particularly interested in sharing ideas with anyone who is integrating Moodle and ELGG.

Looking forward to discussions.
Thanks, Pru

OPENID website

10/20/2006 - Ben on OPENID - http://elgg.net/bwerdmuller/weblog/135119.html
Taking this a step further, OpenID could also simplify the process of allowing students from different schools to take the same class in a single Moodle install. If Moodle was OpenID enabled, it would be possible to whitelist OpenID servers from multiple schools. This has the potential to create a truly distributed learning environment: students from different institutions interacting in a more formal class structure (Moodle), and in an informal learning space (Elgg). Screencast-O-Matic<

Amazing and free! This ought to make a lot of people happy and I like the social aspect of free hosting/sharing of screencast. The whole deal is a pretty neat trick using Java.

Screencast-O-Matic is the free and easy way to create a video recording of your screen (aka screencast) and upload it for free hosting all from your browser with no install!

The length is limited to 15 minutes but really that’s a good thing. I’d keep it way under 15 if at all possible.

Your about to see an excellent demonstration of Elgg (the engine that powers LWPS) within the context of WebCT - a leading provider of e-learning systems for educational institutions. It was made in 2006. The Elgg system you will see in the demonstration is earlier than the version we are currently using in LWPS. However, the basic functions are the same.

Note: The demonstration may go faster or slower than you want. You can control this with the pause, forward and backward buttons at the bottom of the webpage. Just scroll down till you see the control bar.

Click here to view the demonstration.

Click here if you want to learn more about this demonstration, WebCT and the Elgg-WebCT integration.
