Jana Nixon :: Blog :: Career is Life

October 08, 2007

Sometimes careers take circuitous paths -- like my own -- for example. I've held so many seemingly unrelated jobs in my life: Public relations specialist, sales associate, office manager, advertising exec, high school teacher, dental assistant, and career adviser.

What have I learned from these experiences? Nothing is irrelevant; everything counts. It's my job to make it meaningful.

  1. Hi Jana,

I like your post. My career has been circuitous as well. I'm Pete Hubbard, the founder of LWPS.

I think you are the first of Sally's many students to post a "public" post in your personal blog. I hope there will be many more related to lifework planning.

I notice you include MS in your interests. My wife, Heidi, has MS.

We're currently in Boston on our annual 3 month RV trip around the country to visit family and friends.

    Welcome to LWPS.

    Pete

  2. Hi Pete,

Thanks for your encouragement and warm welcome! This is a great time to be touring New England -- aren't the leaves spectacular right now? I hope you and your wife have a pleasant and revitalizing trip...

    Best,

    Jana

PS My father was diagnosed with MS nearly 30 years ago. It's a tough disease but, thankfully, there have been many medical advances made over these past decades.
