NCDA :: Blog :: A note to those NCDA committee chairs who have expressed an interest in using LWPS as a way to communicate among committee members

July 25, 2006

A weblog (blog) is a Internet-based webspace where someone can create and manage posts (notes, messages, communiques) that can be private, semi-private or shared with anyone on the Internet. Some weblogging platforms, like LWPS, offer the users that ability to create weblogging communities to promote eCollaboration. I have had recent conversations with several NCDA committee chairs (Ed Colozzi (Membership), Sally Gelardin/Ray Davis (Prof. Dev.), Peter Manzi (PR), and David Reile (Ethics) and Darrell and Ed (Leadership Academy) about forming respective communities on LWPS to provide committee members with a virtual weblogging platform to discuss private and public committee issues. After my conversation with Barry this morning, those conversations are now on hold until the NCDA board determines if there will be any degree of involvement between NCDA and LWPS. I would like to send the following note to those committee chairs.
We have talked about you or one of your committee members registering for an LWPS account and creating an LWPS community for your NCDA committee. People could see this as some form of a relationship between LWPS and NCDA. Therefore, I want to inform you that we must suspend these conversations until the NCDA board has had an opportunity to evaluate this situation. I will get back to you when I know more.
