Learn when someone adds a comment to a post


A post that you created


If someone makes a comment to a post your created, you can learn about it two ways.

  1. By periodically (at least once each time you log in) clicking on your 'View your activity' button under "Recent Activity" under your gold box, or
  2. Receive an e-mail notification if you have set the e-mail option to "Yes" in your "Account Settings". (That option was set to "No" when you registered, but we highly recommend that you set it to "yes". You can change it anytime you wish.)

A post someone else created


Some posts you read may be so interesting that you will want to learn when someone has added a comment to them.

All you need to do is look at the post that interests you, click on "Comments", then click the "Mark as interesting" button. Then check comment activity using one of the two methods above.

When the new release of Elgg is installed, I'll show you how we can do this a different way.

  1. Pete, The instructions are a bit confusing. As a respondent (not the originator of a post, I see the words, "Keep track of this post. Click the 'Mark interesting' button to monitor new comments on your 'recent activity' page." However, when I click "Mark Interesting" I do not receive comments on that post (only the originator receives the comments). The directions should not be worded as they are to commentors, just to originators of the post.

  4. Pete, when I check "Mark Interesting" to a post that you created, I do not receive an email notification of new comments to your post.

  5. E-mail from "Marked posts" appears to be working in the current version of Ellg on Elgg.net.



    Let's wait till we upgrade LWPS to this new version before I ask Jeffrey to try to find the bug.
