There are currently over 70 communities in LWPS. Most of them have been created by Dr. Sally Gelardin, Dr. Ed Colozzi, and myself.1 This post, the narrative and list below will highlight those that relate to the core purpose of LWPS. (Most of the other communities are important because they all deal with lifework/career planning issues.)
Most of the time, when you are logged into LWPS, you will be creating, reviewing, reflecting upon and revising your lifework/career planning posts in your personal blog. In the beginning, we will encourage you to view posts in the "New member!"2 community to learn about the features and functions of LWPS, and to consider recommendations for posts we think you should create.
As your blog develops, we hope you will see how important it is for you to periodically review and revise key posts in your personal blog so they reflect who you are at that moment so you are prepared for those inevitable unplanned events3 and transitions4 in your life.
Soon after you join LWPS, we will recommend that you explore the Seven (7) life stages of CD5 community to read about NCDA's policy about age-appropriate career development (CD). Next we will recommend that you explore the LifeWork Planning process6 community to learn about an eight (8) step decision-making model. As your blog matures, we will then ask you to review the Dreams; Visions; Bliss; Your Voice7, and Destiny, and Spirituality communities.
Below is a little more descriptive information about each of the superscripted links above. (Each core community is under development and the per-centages (pp%) indicate their approximate level of completion. My posts that are less than 40% complete are private while I develop them.)
After you click each community link below you will notice changes in the right sidebar. The "Brief Description" box under "Profile Owner" and the list of "Members" will be different and unique to that community.
You may also be interested in these communities.

The National Career Development Association (NCDA), in their 8 page PDF document "Career Development: A Policy Statement of the National Development Association Board of (Adopted March 16, 1993; revised 2003)", has the following definitions. (NCDA gave me permission to create this html version.)
With these definitions, NCDA's conceptual view is that any given individual has only one "career" even though she/he changes occupations, vocations, positions, or jobs several times.
- "Career development" is the total constellation of psychological, sociological, educational, physical, economic, and chance factors that combine to influence the nature and significance of work in the total lifespan of any given individual.
- "Career" is the totality of work -- paid and unpaid -- one does in his/her lifetime.
- "Work" is sustained, conscious paid and/or unpaid effort, other than that having as its primary purpose either coping or relaxation, aimed at producing societally acceptable benefits for oneself and/or for oneself and others.
- "Drudgery" is involuntary effort to produce benefits for oneself and/or for oneself and others undertaken out of perceived necessity rather than personal choice.
- "Vocation" is one's primary work task at any given period of life.
- "Occupation" is one's primary work task in the world of paid employment.
- "Job" is an identified set of duties and responsibilities -- paid or unpaid -- assigned to be performed usually on a sustaining, ongoing basis by one person. "Position" is a set of competencies (skills and knowledge) required as a component of the overall mission of the agency, organization, or setting in which the position exists.
"Work" is the foundation in career development, and "... represents the need to do – to achieve - to know that one is needed by others and is important. Work is a major way for individuals to recognize and understand both who they are and why they exist in terms of making contributions to society that bring personal meaning and satisfaction to them. It is when persons regard what they are doing as work that productivity is maximized. Without work, the best a job can provide is economic security benefits -- which may not be enough to motivate the employee to perform in a maximally productive manner. The goal of career development is ensuring that the individual finds work as well as a job."LifeWork is a special kind of "work" that rises out of your dreams. LifeWork elevates "work" to a higher emotional and spiritual plane where you fulfill your dreams or your destiny or what you were meant to be/do, or you find your "voice" or your calling or your soul's code.

LifeWork Planning Services (LWPS) is a blogging platform that is divided into two types of blogs: personal and community.
A blog is a collection or concentration of posts. (More about posts.)
As an LWPS member, you have your own personal blog. No one but you can add a post to your personal blog, except an LWPS administrator.
You and others can create community blogs which will have a specific purpose or focus. (See this post for guidelines.)
Most community blogs are public and any LWPS member can post to them. You can create restricted community blogs and limit who can read it or add posts to it.

The mission of Life's Work is to encourage and help the motivated individual to discover his/her purposeful life, as manifested through vocation and/or avocation.
One's life purpose, sometimes referred to as Calling or Destiny, is one's unique contribution to the world that uses the whole self fully and gives life passion, fulfillment and meaning. Those who elect to explore their life's calling are invited to take their unique journey.
The journey itself is of supreme value and must be initiated by the individual, within an understanding, yet focused, coaching relationship.
Central to the process of Life's Work is the development of consciousness and the emergence of an ethic based upon a respect for the mysteries and the vitality of the human soul (psyche).
